Commissioning and decommissioning

Whatever the sector, whether it’s installation or removal: here you can find out everything you need to know about meter commissioning.

Do you need a new meter?

Have you built a new property, added another flat to your existing property, or installed a heat pump?
There are many reasons for getting a new meter, but the process of getting it up and running is always the same.
Here you’ll find all the information you need to get your energy supply up and running as quickly as possible.

Commissioning of the counter

Preparation for installation by a specialist contractor

You commission a licensed plumber, who will prepare everything on site for the meter to be fitted.

You can find licensed installation companies in our directory of installers.

Notice of Completion

Once the work is complete, your installer will submit a ‘completion notification’ to fertigstellungsanzeige@swk-kl.de

Important: For gas installations, the application must be approved by the responsible district chimney sweep before it is sent to us. Your installer will also take care of this.

The forms for the completion notifications for the individual sectors can be found further down this page.

Audit by SWK

The application will be checked by our technical team. Once it has been successfully verified, there will be nothing to prevent the meter from being installed. However, the subsequent procedure varies depending on the sector.

Meter reading

Electricity meter

We will arrange an appointment with the electrical contractor so that the meters can be installed by SWK in the presence of your installer.

Gas meters

Gas meters are usually fitted by your installer after they have collected them from us. Gas meters may only be collected by licensed installers.

Water meters

We will arrange an appointment with you for the meter to be installed by SWK.

Any meter resets or other changes requested, whether by the customer or by the authorised installer, will be charged to the customer.

Meter removal

Would you like to have a meter removed, for example because you have switched from gas heating to a heat pump?

Please send us an email containing the following information:
