SWK is implementing key measures from the local transport plan

Changes to bus routes from 3 May 2026 To coincide with the completion of the ‘New City Centre’, not only will the bus departure points between Fackelbrunnen and Fruchthalle be reorganised, but timetables and, in some cases, routes will also change on most services. The aim is to make the city’s public transport service more attractive, efficient and sustainable.

A major success for the energy transition: district heating for 1. FC Kaiserslautern

Inauguration ceremony marks the start of a sustainable, locally sourced heating supply The successfully completed project to provide heating for the Fritz-Walter Stadium is a fine example of strong regional teamwork. This success is the result of close collaboration between the stadium company, 1. FC Kaiserslautern, SWK Stadtwerke Kaiserslautern Versorgungs-AG and WVE GmbH – both of which are part of the SWK Group – and other regional partners. Supplying the stadium with district heating marks a significant milestone – and is therefore a cause for celebration.

Laptops for local schools

SWK supports digital education SWK Stadtwerke Kaiserslautern has donated a total of 156 laptops to the City of Kaiserslautern’s Schools Department. The aim is to give pupils better access to modern technology. The computers are between 1.5 and 5 years old and have been fitted with new hard drives. Eleven schools in Kaiserslautern are benefiting from the donation.

Wind energy for St Julian’s: Current status and developments

SWK Stadtwerke Kaiserslautern and St Julian are driving forward sustainable energy supply SWK Stadtwerke Kaiserslautern plans to build a wind farm comprising four wind turbines in the municipality of St Julian. The initial reports have already been received and are very promising. Further key reports are expected in the coming months and are intended to provide a sound basis for decision-making regarding the next stages of development. Mayor Philipp Gruber expressly supports the project and is actively involved in the process. To this end, he is in regular contact with the municipal utility team.
