A boost for the energy transition

SWK Stadtwerke Kaiserslautern purchases wind turbine in Sembach On 16 May 2024, SWK Stadtwerke Kaiserslautern Versorgungs-AG acquired its first wind turbine. Both the supervisory board and the city council had previously given the go-ahead for the purchase. The purchase agreements between the municipal utility and a consortium of sellers had already been signed at the end of April. The transfer of ownership has now been completed. SWK Stadtwerke Kaiserslautern is therefore the owner and operator of a 3MW turbine that came into operation around 10 years ago in Sembach (Enkenbach-Alsenborn administrative district). The wind turbine generates an annual output of 5,400 megawatt-hours, operating at around 1,800 full-load hours. This energy is sufficient to supply around 1,500 households with green electricity.
