We want to provide our region with the best possible drinking water via the mains supply. That is why water quality is particularly important to us. WVE GmbH Kaiserslautern, a company within the SWK Group, carries out ongoing microbiological testing of the water. In addition, we have it tested in other laboratories for chemical and physical properties and regularly screened for pesticide residues.
Natural filter
Our drinking water is of a particularly high quality. It originates from the red sandstone in the Palatinate Forest, which means it has very low nitrate levels. You can therefore use it with confidence and directly for preparing baby formula. It is also ideally suited to special dietary requirements – for example, low-sodium diets.
Drinking water from Kaiserslautern has a water hardness rating of 1 and is therefore classified as soft. This brings with it several advantages. You’ll need less washing-up liquid and cleaning products, which helps protect the environment and saves you money. Furthermore, it significantly reduces the burden on the sewage system.

FAQ – Answers to the most frequently asked questions
As a general rule for human consumption: it is better to let the water run until it becomes noticeably cooler. This ensures that it is fresh.
Our drinking water has a hardness rating of 1 – so it is very soft. The benefits: you need less washing-up liquid and cleaning products. This is good for your wallet and the environment. What’s more, it puts much less strain on the sewage system.

The term ‘water hardness’ describes the lime content, or more precisely, the concentration of dissolved calcium and magnesium compounds in the water.
If the water contains a lot of calcium and magnesium, it is referred to as hard water; if it contains little, it is soft water.
