The LDEW represents the interests of around 270 companies in the energy and water sectors in Hesse and Rhineland-Palatinate. Through their services, the member companies make a significant contribution to regional infrastructure, the local quality of life and the competitiveness of the economy. As a central point of contact, the association acts as an intermediary between on-the-ground practice and policymakers at state, federal and EU level.
Intensive dialogue for streamlined processes and lean
structures“I am convinced that the links with political decision-makers, committees and authorities are essential for us as utility providers. Dialogue and mutual engagement break down barriers and enhance our shared understanding of one another,” says Arvid Blume with conviction in his new role.
“We are currently in an exciting phase: key framework conditions for the energy and water sectors are being renegotiated politically at European, federal and state levels. In Rhineland-Palatinate, there will be a new coalition.
Over the next two years, as a member of the LDEW Executive Board, I will actively champion the objectives of our member companies in shaping these framework conditions,” promises Blume. “As our first priority, we would like to present a paper within the association containing concrete proposals for efficient administration to avoid unnecessary costs for customers.
This issue is close to my heart because it affects us all, including us here at SWK Stadtwerke Kaiserslautern. Simple guidelines and streamlined processes can actively drive the energy transition forward at a local level. To achieve this, we need a sensible framework from politicians and the authorities. Ultimately, everyone stands to benefit: every customer and the entire region.”
