On 8 April 2024, from 9.00 am, around 160 pupils from 12 primary schools in the city of Kaiserslautern competed in two age groups for the challenge cups and medals provided by SWK Stadtwerke Kaiserslautern.
As was the case last year, Pfaffenwoog Primary School were crowned city champions in the Year 1 and Year 2 category, having come out on top against the pupils from Theodor-Heuss Primary School in a penalty shoot-out. In the older age groups (Years 3–4), Geschwister-Scholl Primary School emerged victorious in a series of thrilling final matches.
A highlight for the young football fans was a visit from Betzi, who was busy signing autographs.
The prize-giving ceremony was conducted by Scarlett Sapountsis, Head of Marketing and Public Relations at SWK Stadtwerke Kaiserslautern, and Anja Pfeiffer, Deputy Mayor of Kaiserslautern and Head of Department III (Youth and Sport, Schools and Social Affairs).
The event was supported by the Fritz Walter Foundation (Werner Schmalz) as part of its street football project ‘Kanälchers’; organisational and sporting management was in the hands of Sven Weilemann, specialist adviser for primary school sport in Kaiserslautern.
