Bus stops in the city centre are being relocated

With the start of the next phase of construction for the new town centre, Burgstraße will be closed north of Fackelbrunnen and Fruchthalle from 15 July. This means that, for the next three months, almost all bus routes will have new routes and new stops in the town centre.

Buses on routes 101 and 113, which continue from the city centre towards Messeplatz, stop at the new bus stop next to Schillerplatz – a covered shelter complete with a bench and a digital display. Prior to this, they are routed from Pfaffplatz via Marienkirche, Königstraße and Fruchthallstraße. In the opposite direction, these routes – as well as route 114 – stop on Maxstraße on the side of the Burggymnasium.

Also on Maxstraße are the stops for lines 102 (Betzenberg, Sonnenberg) and 104 (Bännjerrück, PRE-Park), on the town hall side or the school side depending on the direction of travel.

On Burgstraße, directly in front of the school entrance, passengers can board lines 108 and 112 towards Erfenbach and Erlenbach respectively at the temporary bus stop ‘X’. Line 117 towards PRE-Park and the main railway station also has its central stop here.

Although Fruchthallstraße will be free of construction work from 15 July, the new bus stop on the south side of the Fackelbrunnen will not be accessible to buses during the upcoming construction phase due to a lack of turning space. Consequently, the central stop for routes 103 (Dansenberg), 106 (Mölschbach), 111 (Hohenecken) and 115 (University) must also be relocated. After turning round via Fackelwoogstraße, the buses will then stop on Richard-Wagner-Straße in front of the Vapiano restaurant (Stadtmitte, platform Y). At the same time, one-way traffic towards the Mall will be introduced on this section of road. However, there is no kerb here to make it easier for passengers to board.

Buses on routes 105 and 107 stop on Martin-Luther-Straße: in the direction of Uni-Wohnstadt, in front of the entrance to the theatre underground car park; and in the direction of Fischerrück and the industrial estate, on the opposite side of the road. The Mühlstraße stop will be omitted for these routes. Towards the main station, there will be an extra stop on Karl-Marx-Straße, shortly after the junction with Bismarckstraße.

The only SWK route not directly affected by the works in the city centre is route 109. The stops remain on Maxstraße.

However, passengers on the Kulsemünd Nachtbus will need to find their way around. We recommend checking the stop location map, which is also available online.

A great deal of patience will be required from our passengers and our drivers during this three-month construction phase. However, we are confident that, despite all the temporary arrangements, we will manage operations well during this holiday and summer period when traffic is lighter.
