To prevent the power grid from becoming overloaded, grid operators must be able to control solar and wind power plants as needed and, if necessary, reduce their output. This may be necessary, for example, when too much solar power is fed into the grid on a sunny afternoon.

SWK’s water traffic light provides early information on the status of the drinking water supply. It has been back to green since July 8, 2026. Water consumption, which reached an annual peak of over 30,000 m³ per day during the heat wave—despite severe drought—has declined again. In addition, rainfall has returned.

Christmas campaign by SWK Stadtwerke Kaiserslautern SWK has made a conscious decision this year not to give its staff a small gift. Instead, the company is supporting four regional organisations with a total of €10,000. This decision was taken jointly by the staff. It forms part of the utility company’s long-term commitment to social responsibility and sustainability.

SWK Group calls off the project SWK Stadtwerke Kaiserslautern will not be going ahead with the planned fibre-optic roll-out in Mölschbach. This was communicated to the supervisory board of SWK Stadtwerke Kaiserslautern Versorgungs-AG at its meeting on 1 October 2025. Despite a successful pre-marketing campaign, the pilot project is not feasible for the SWK Group under the current circumstances.
